Woodside set to announce fifth LNG train for NW Shelf

<p>The North West Shelf partners are shortly expected to announce a fifth train for the Withnell Bay LNG plant and terminal near Dampier, according to the <em>Australian Financial Review</em> . </p> <p>The $2.9bn project will boost the plant’s output by 25% to 16m tonnes a year, and allow the development of the Angel gas field. The move will also allow project developer Woodside to keep on site most of the workforce who have just completed the expansion to a fourth train. </p> <p>Conoco-Phillips is building a second Australian LNG facility and terminal at Dampier, while 5.5m tonnes of LNG has already been sold to the US and China from Chevron’s huge Gorgon project off Western Australia.</p> <p>BHP Billiton is also looking at LNG production sites at both Onslow and Broome in Western Australia. </p> <br />
