Wodonga rail bypass plan imminent

The future of the proposed Wodonga rail bypass is expected within weeks following an agreement between Pacific National and the Australian rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to work on the issue.

The agreement means a plan can be drawn up to remove the rail line from the city centre to make way for future expansion, the ABC reports.

Victorian transport minister Peter Batchelor said the two companies would work together on the plan but were still in disagreement about track standardisation further south of Wodonga.

"The have agreed to shut their eyes to their argument to the south of Wodonga and leave that behind, that will still remain as a problem, but let’s get on with the bits that we do agree about," Mr Batchelor told the ABC.
