Inland Rail has shared a video of the demolition of Short Street Bridge in Broadford, Victoria, which took place during a recent 40-hour track possession.
The old bridge, which crossed the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) and V/Line tracks at Broadford, was destroyed using excavators with specialised attachments.
About 400 tonnes of rubble was removed and recycled during a shutdown of the Albury Line, which enabled large-scale works to take place.
The Short Street Bridge is being replaced with a new, higher bridge, and the tracks are being lowered.
This will provide enough clearance for double-stacked freight trains to pass through.
