WA splashes out on rail infrastructure

<p>Public transport infrastructure in Western Australia will get a $240m boost in this year’s state budget, premier Geoff Gallop said.</p> <p>About $183m of that money will be spent on Perth’s MetroRail project.</p> <p>Allocations under this scheme include:</p> <p>&#8226 $15.5m for the northern suburbs railway extension</p> <p>&#8226 $33.8m on constructing a rail spur from Perth to Thornlie</p> <p>&#8226 $63.5 for the Perth-Mandurha railway and </p> <p>&#8226 $70.1m for railcars and a depot on the northern suburbs rail line.</p> <br />
