<p>Victorian women interested in developing a career in the transport sector can apply the annual Women in Freight, Logistics and Marine Management Scholarship.</p> <p>The $10,000 scholarship was designed to encourage more women into management positions.</p> <p>“Although the freight, logistics and marine sector is changing, it is clear that there is still a need for initiatives to promote and support the recruitment and advancement of women within its ranks,” transport minister Peter Batchelor said.</p> <p>“Industry reports estimate that women currently represent only about 20 per cent of the workforce in these sectors, with the figure in management position significantly less still.” </p> <p>Last year’s scholarship was awarded to Shannon Gibson, a supply chain director at CSL Bioplasma. </p> <p>“I have used the award to assist me in completing my Masters degree and have also found it has presented me with a number of opportunities to further my career in the logistics and supply chain management field,” Ms Gibson said.</p> <p>Applications close on November 24.
