Victorian passenger services get new managers

Victorian transport minister Peter Batchelor has appointed three managing directors to run the state’s M>Train, M>Tram and V&#47Line passenger services.

Alan Chaplin will run M>Train, Bernie Carolan M>Tram and Andrew Neal will take on V&#47Line.

Their key priorities will be continuous improvement of customer service, safe reliable and punctual services and delivery of the state government’s public transport projects, Mr Batchelor said.

The passenger services have been run through government receivers KPMG, since the withdrawal of their former operators National Express Group in December last year.

"While KPMG will continue to manage the businesses on behalf of the state, we now have three very experienced transport professionals driving the operations," Mr Batchelor said.

The state has now established a new body, Victorian Rail Services, to employ the staff working across all three franchises.
