<p>Victorian public transport minister announced the start of the State Government’s $33.2m level crossing safety initiative yesterday (Sunday, July 22) in the wake of the Kerang disaster that claimed 11 lives in June.</p> <p>Trials of red-light cameras will take place at three crossings, two in suburban Melbourne and one on the Midland Highway at Bagshot, north of Bendigo.</p> <p>Rumble strips had been placed at an initial 20 crossings of 180 proposed sites, Ms Kosky said, with the rest yet to be determined by the Level Crossing Steering Committee.</p> <br />
