Victoria shunted into Pacific National fold

<p>A new era in Victorian rail kicked off this morning (Wednesday, September 1), after Pacific National finally completed its $285m purchase of Freight Australia.</p> <p>Pacific National CEO Stephen O’Donnell said the company would move quickly to create Victorian-based divisions for rail freight operations and track management and access.</p> <p>A rural and bulk division will operate trains for bulk products and agribusiness, Mr O’Donnell said.</p> <p>This division will include the previous Freight Australia operations as well as the existing Pacific National rural and bulk group.</p> <p>A network and access division will maintain and operate the regional railway track and provide access to a number of customers "including the Victorian Government", Pacific National said.</p> <br />
