<p>The Victorian Government will spend $3.5m preserving the state’s rail history, it said last week.</p> <p>The funding will be used to restore railway buildings throughout regional Victoria.</p> <p>It will be administered through VicTrack with assistance from a Heritage Advisory Panel.</p> <p>The program runs until 2006, but the government expects it to receive additional funding and be extended.</p> <p>As an example of the government’s commitment, Creswick Railway Station is being given a $90,000 facelift, including repairs to the building, signal box, lamp room and van shed. </p> <p>This funding is not part of the new heritage program.</p> <br />
