Federal transport minister Mark Vaile had approved a “major development plan” for a warehouse and distribution facility at Perth Airport, he said yesterday (Wednesday, August).

“Perth Airport’s decision to develop Precinct 2C of the airport as a warehousing and distribution park, illustrates the role the airport is increasingly playing as a transport and logistics hub for Perth,” Mr Vaile said.

The development would have access to two major road and rail networks which link the airport to the Perth metropolitan region.

“Perth Airport is a vital part of the international transport system, as well as being an integral part of the region’s economic activity and the decision by Linfox Australia to locate its regional distribution centre at the airport site recognises that linkage,” he said.

“The operation of the Linfox warehouse and distribution facility will generate approximately 180 jobs and reinforce the airport’s role as an economic generator of jobs, employment and business opportunities in the Perth metropolitan region.”
