<p>The Victoria Government said it would not install any new boom gates or warning lights on country level rail crossings and warned drivers yesterday (Tuesday, March 25) to take care and obey road rules.</p> <p>The Government made its position clear after a horrific Easter accident that claimed the life of a mother and child, and left three other family members in a serious condition when they drove their car into the path of an oncoming train.</p> <p>The crossing, outside Geelong, was unprotected by boom gates or warning lights.</p> <p>The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria and the Victorian opposition have called for upgrades to rail crossing across the state, but Victoria’s transport minister Lynne Kosky rejected any such move.</p> <p>“All I can say to motorists around Victoria is they have to obey the road rules around level crossings,” Ms Kosky said.</p> <br />
