Tzaneros companies open in India and China

AGS, one of Australia’s largest non-vessel operating common carriers, opened a new Indian subsidiary in Mumbai on Monday, just weeks after opening new offices in Shanghai, Tianjin and Qingdao.

AGS director Terry Tzaneros said that Hind Freight AGS India was a joint venture with the local Samsara Group, developer of the largest warehouse operation in the port of Nhava Sheva, and India’s first private railway operator.

The plan is to develop satellite rail terminals in India, with Hind Freight AGS involved.

Mr Tzaneros said that the key to expanding in Asia was finding strong joint venture partners with good infrastructure. The new Indian venture is also strongly placed to handle the now booming import trade from China to India.

As well as the new China facilities with 120 staff, AGS has also recently opened offices in the United Arab Emirates which partner its own offices in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia, and agency representation in 40 other countries.

The Tzaneros family also owns Australian Container Freight Services, which operates the former P&#38O warehouse park at Molyneux Point in Port Botany, now rebranded as Austate Logistics. The company is now adding road haulage operations to service the warehousing and pack&#47unpack businesses on the site.

ACFS is also developing the Portgate warehouse complex in Brisbane.

Mr Tzaneros said that he saw AGS and ACFS as &#8220a complete package&#8221 together, with AGS having a strong wholesale shipping space customer base with all the major forwarding and logistics companies.
