Turner & Townsend wins managed service contract for next Sydney Metro stages

Turner & Townsend has won a key role in the project management office for Sydney Metro City & Southwest and the Sydney Metro West final business case.

Transport for NSW recently named Turner & Townsend the managed service provider for the office. The service provider will team up with HKA and Crossrail International, and expects to have a joint team of roughly 60 program and project control professionals working across multiple contract packages.

Turner & Townsend and HKA have been working on the Sydney Metro program now for over a decade, playing a key role in the development of the Sydney Metro Northwest project, which is nearing completion. City & Southwest is the second stage of the Sydney Metro project, while the third stage, West, is in development.

“This win clearly reflects the strength of the relationship we have built with Transport for NSW over many years, and the confidence they have in our ability to deliver high quality outcomes utilising global best practice methods,” Turner & Townsend national infrastructure leader Darren Munton said.

“We set out a clear strategy to grow our reputation and influence in Australia. To win one of the largest single infrastructure commissions in the country, reinforces that we are heading in the right direction.”

HKA partner Dafydd Wyn Owen called the deal “a truly exciting opportunity to shape the future of Sydney, and to help further raise the bar in the program’s performance”.

“HKA is renowned for finding value adding solutions amid uncertainty and will bring this global experience to help Sydney Metro deliver the best possible outcome,” he said.
