Tunnel boring machine update

Proponents of Brisbane’s Cross River Rail say tunnel boring machines are set to reach the Roma Street cavern mid-year.

BOTH of Cross River Rail’s tunnel boring machines are now underground and making their way north after being launched from within the new Woolloongabba station cavern in January 2021.

The TBMs are scheduled to reach the new Roma Street station cavern mid-year after travelling through the new station cavern currently being excavated at Albert Street.

Once relaunched at Roma Street, they will make their way to their final destination, the Northern Tunnel Portal in Spring Hill.

“Keep an eye out for more updates as the TBMs get closer to the Roma Street station construction site,” a spokesperson said.
