Trucking firms starting to impose diesel levy

<p>Australian trucking firms are starting to impose fuel levies as rising oil prices impact on the price of diesel.</p> <p>The Australian Trucking Association has confirmed many trucking companies are imposing a diesel levy, believed to be up to 3 a litre and long-haul destinations such as north Queensland have been among the first targets. </p> <p>The rail industry is also struggling to absorb a more than 15% increase in diesel costs in the past year, reports the <em>Courier Mail</em> . </p> <p>North Queensland business leaders say oil prices will increase costs for consumers as the northern hemisphere’s winter sets in and oil prices increase. </p> <br />
