<p>Tranz Rail has called for expressions of interest to purchase its Wellington commuter train services.</p> <p>The long anticipated sale of New Zealand’s largest commuter rail business will enable Tranz Rail to concentrate on its core activity "as a linehaul freight rail specialist", the company said.</p> <p>The rail operator endured a media mauling over Christmas and into the New Year after long-running heat restrictions on its Wellington commuter services.</p> <p>Tranz Rail has already completed the sale of Tranz Scenic, its long distance passenger service. </p> <br />
