Toxic cargo better on rail, says road pressure group

<p>The improvement committee of the Calder Highway wants rail rather than road to transport toxic waste through central Victoria.</p> <p>It has raised its concerns with the State Government over plans to move toxic waste to a containment dump near Ouyen, the ABC said.</p> <p>If road is chosen, the Calder Highway would have to be duplicated between Melbourne and Bendigo, with substantial upgrades on the sections of the highway to Ouyen, the committee said. </p> <br />
