<p>Toll Holdings plans to retain TranzRail’s New Zealand commuter train network, despite signalling it would sell the under-performing services during its takeover bid for TranzRail.</p> <p>Toll chief executive Paul Little had said the company was interested in TranzRail because of the freight opportunities it presented for Toll in New Zealand.</p> <p>However, Toll has now confirmed to the Greater Wellington City Council that it will retain ownership of the TranzMetro service, which the Council subsidises.</p> <p>Toll now owns 84% of TranzRail stock, after failing to get the 90% it needed to force a compulsory 100% takeover.</p> <br />
