TBM named after women’s rights advocate

A third tunnel boring machine (TBM) has been launched for the Sydney Metro-Western Sydney Airport project, named after a prominent women’s rights advocate. The machine will be used at Orchard Hills in a major milestone towards the delivery of world-class metro services. Mega tunnel boring machine (TBM) Eileen has crushed through a wall of rock to arrive at the Airport Terminal metro station site, marking the first tunnel breakthrough for the city-shaping Sydney Metro-Western Sydney Airport project. Contracts for Western Sydney Airport metro line

Major works are set to commence on the new Sydney Metro-Western Sydney Airport metro line after a $1.8 billion contract was awarded to CPB Contractors and Ghella to build the new twin metro rail tunnels.
