<p>New x-ray equipment has revealed dozens of previously hidden cracks in Sydney’s rail network.</p> <p>Vertical head splits have been identified in a number of sections of busy line.</p> <p>These have now been removed and replaced by new track.</p> <p>More than 30 cracks were reported found on the Illawarra line between Sutherland and Waterfall.</p> <p>The repair process has been completed, according to CityRail.</p> <p>Shadow transport minister Peter Debnam condemned the State Government for trying to keep the cracks – potential safety risks – a secret from the public.</p> <p>He is also concerned that country lines still have to be checked for similar cracks.</p> <br />
