Sydney’s passenger rail network is again plagued with cancelled services after a poor take-up of the New South Wales government’s cash offer for train driver overtime.

RailCorp yesterday (Sunday, February 15) conceded that only 12 of a group of 300 drivers who are refusing to do overtime had accepted the government’s incentive.

Although there are additional 12 drivers now doing overtime plus a further 10 new drivers who graduated from training last week, RailCorp said it would have to cancel more than 100 services a day because of driver shortages.
