Sydney Metro has shared a first look at the Burwood North station site after excavation was recently completed.
Community members were invited behind the gates earlier this month to check out the site, exploring the freshly excavated 29-metre-deep box-like structure where the future Burwood North station will be built.
They also got to see Sydney Metro West’s fully lined tunnels and crossover cavern that will allow trains to cross to the other track during maintenance or in an emergency, as well as a new pedestrian tunnel eight metres below Parramatta Road that will provide direct access to the station from the south.

Sydney Metro said Burwood North Station will strengthen the thriving business and retail centre to the south of Parramatta Road, and provide a new fast, frequent and reliable transport link for the community north of Parramatta Road.
The Sydney Metro West project is a new 24-kilometre underground metro railway which will double rail capacity between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD.
Stations have been confirmed at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street in the Sydney CBD. Two potential station locations are being investigated west of Sydney Olympic Park, including one at Rosehill Gardens which could support a significant increase in housing.
Sydney Metro West is aiming for an opening date of 2032.
