Coaches will replace trains later this month along Victoria’s Bendigo line so crews can deliver track improvements and a new access point aimed at improving the overall reliability of operations on the line.
Services will be disrupted from August 18 to 20, and then from August 25 to 28, so the work can take place.
“Vital” track maintenance is planned under the new Melton Highway road bridge at Sydenham. A new access point will also be created during the work for rail maintenance vehicles to enter the rail corridor.
Crews will also conduct important track maintenance work between Sunbury and Sunshine.
Public transport minister Melissa Horne said passengers should allow extra time on their journeys during the work.
“These vital maintenance works will help boost reliability for Bendigo passengers as patronage on the line continues to grow. We’d like to thank passengers for their patience as we get on with improving train services on this busy section of the network,” Horne said.
