Swietelsky Rail Australia (SRA) has been awarded a significant contract by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to deliver the ballast renewal and track rehabilitation works on the Picton‑Tahmoor corridor of the New South Wales rail network.

The award further cements SRA’s position as a leading provider of mechanised track maintenance and renewal services in Australia.

The scope of work includes 10 kilometres of full‑depth ballast replacement, track realignment, tamping and regulating, drainage remediation and material recycling, to be completed across three weekend possessions between December 2025 and May 2026.

SRA will mobilise its specialist plant for the project, inclusive of its RM95 ballast cleaner and MFS spoil wagons, and deploy its proven delivery team to ensure compliance with ARTC’s rigorous safety, quality and operational standards.

“SRA is proud to be selected by ARTC for this important program of work,” said Managing Director Anne Connors.

“This contract showcases our depth of experience working in live rail corridors and our capability to deliver complex ballast renewals within possession windows while maintaining operational reliability and stakeholder confidence.”

The project will also leverage SRA’s integrated safety, environmental, rail safeworking and quality management systems, underpinned by ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) certifications and industry‑leading practices.

“We look forward to partnering with ARTC and delivering value‑driven outcomes across safety, quality and sustainability,” Connors added.

SRA is a specialised provider of mechanised rail maintenance and construction services across Australia.

Backed by the international Swietelsky Group, SRA brings together global experience and local knowledge to deliver reliable, sustainable, and safety-focused solutions.
