<p>New South Wales and Queensland have formed an interstate taskforce to look at possible transport links between the two states. </p> <p>Queensland transport minister Paul Lucas said it made sense to investigate potential links between northern New South Wales and southeast Queensland.</p> <p>“This has got the advantage of really helping develop the northern New South Wales, south-east Queensland area,” Mr Lucas said.</p> <p>“A lot of trade and commerce and tourism goes between them.”</p> <p>Work was already under way to extend the Gold Coast rail line closer to the NSW border.</p> <p>The rail line would reach Coolangatta in Queensland by 2018, Mr Lucas said.</p> <p>NSW is also looking to resume rail services between Casino-Murwillumbah, suspended two years ago after federal funding cuts. </p> <br />
