State government blamed for Millenium train delays

The delay in getting Sydney’s Millenium trains on the tracks is the fault of the State Government and not the train manufacturer, according to NSW opposition transport spokesman Peter Debnam.

Just three of the new trains are now in operation and two more are due to come on line by the end of the month.

Manufacturer EDI Rail has faced serious setbacks, including a major supply company going bust.

Mr Debnam said the delay is probably the result of government mismanagement and not the local manufacturer.

The delay has been the same for every other public transport project, he said.
