Speakers announced for RISSB Safety Conference

A site tour of the Sydney Metro project, and speeches from key safety executives and decision makers at Metro Trains Melbourne, Queensland Rail and Bombardier headline the 2018 edition of RISSB’s Rail Safety Conference.

The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) will host its annual Rail Safety Conference in Sydney on May 9 and 10, 2018. This year’s event is themed, ‘Changing Technology, Changing Perceptions’.

Day one of the conference will kick off with a much-anticipated tour of the Sydney Metro Trains Facility near Rouse Hill, as well as a station prototype and the station site at Castle Hill. Numbers are limited to just 23, so interested parties are encouraged by RISSB to book ASAP.

The conference portion of the event will kick off shortly before 1pm on May 9, with a series of presentations chaired by RISSB chief executive Paul Daley.

Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator chief executive Sue McCarrey will deliver a keynote address on the ONRSR’s role as a risk-based regulator, while speeches will also come from Queensland Rail’s head of track safety Alan Jones, and Bombardier Transportation’s QNGR fleet director Chris Bradley, among others.

Day two of the event will include an international keynote from the University of Koblenz-Landau’s André Schneider, who will talk about the development of GRADE: Global Railway Accident Database and Evaluation.

An up-to-date list of speakers is below.

The RISSB Rail Safety Conference will take place at Rydges World Square in Sydney, on May 9 and 10, 2018. RISSB is also holding its annual Rail Safety Dinner at 7pm on May 9, at Sydney’s Doltone House Hyde Park. Click here for more details.
