The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will carry out weekly shutdowns of the Glenlee to Moss Vale railway line on the New South Wales Southern Highlands network, commencing on Saturday, April 15 until Saturday, December 16.
The works will be carried out from 11am – 4pm. On some Saturdays during the period normal services will be in operation, passengers can find up to date information on the line closures here: Track Work – ARTC and via www.transportnsw.info.
The Enfield West to Moss Vale line will also be closed for 50 hours of general and major track maintenance from 10:30pm on Friday, April 21 until 2am on Monday, April 24. Diversions will be in place for some freight services via the Moss Vale to Unanderra line during this time.
The shutdowns will allow maintenance works to be carried out which will improve the Southern Highlands network.
Road coaches will replace trains on NSW TrainLink services.
ARTC Group Executive Interstate Network Simon Ormsby said the maintenance works will be targeted at removing temporary speed restrictions, resurfacing, and vegetation management to ensure that the track condition remains at a high standard.
“The works will be carried out weekly on Saturdays to avoid disrupting the weekly commuter peak. The timing has been selected as it impacts the least number of services over the regular five-hour period. Some Saturdays will be excluded to allow residents to commute to and from community events,” he said.
“Regular maintenance works ensures that the Southern Highlands network’s vital supply chain for the economy and jobs can keep moving, as well as keeping our customers, staff, and the community safe.
“While freight and passenger services will be stopped, we continue to ask motorists to remain vigilant and slow down at level crossings during the shutdowns as there will be machinery and other movements on the rail line.”
