The Western Australian Government has shared a preview of the new Australind train ahead of it entering service.
WA Premier Roger Cook shared a video to social media, unveiling the train’s bright orange exterior.
The two Australind trains, which will run between Bunbury and Perth, are currently in testing along the South West Main Line.
Both three-car railcar sets are diesel variants of the Transperth C-series train.
The trains have been built at Alstom’s Bellevue Railcar Manufacturing and Maintenance Facility, as part of the WA Railcar Program.
They will feature modern interiors, more storage space for bicycles, USB charging ports, and an upgraded buffet.
The Australind service was suspended in November 2023 when the Armadale Line was closed for upgrades.
The closure of the line also marked the retirement of the ADP/ADQ class trainsets, with the last two services taking place that month.
The new trains were meant to enter service in the first quarter of 2026, but there have been delays, with commuters still taking replacement buses.
Roger Cook said there will be an announcement “soon” on when the trains will be ready for passengers.
