<p>Great Southern Railroad’s (GSR) parent company, Serco, has reported a UK$46.4m profit before tax and goodwill amortisation in 2001.</p> <p>This result is 22.9% up on the previous year.</p> <p>GSR contributed to the outcome with a 21% increase in sales during the period.</p> <p>Serco’s financial statement said the company also made significant gains by refinancing the rollingstock.</p> <p>Executive chairman Richard White predicts Serco will continue to perform strongly. </p> <p>The company has already secured 82% of its forecast turnover for 2002.</p> <br />
