<p>Tasmania’s slice of the AusLink pie is comparatively small at $134m over the next five years, but it will allow the completion of the highway duplication between two of the state’s key ports.</p> <p>The Federal Government will spend $68m to complete the duplication of the Bass Highway between Ulverstone and Penguin that will provide continuous four-lane driving between Burnie and Devonport.</p> <p>It has also promised $57m from a $100m commitment to replace the Bridgewater bridge on the Midland Highway, with the remainder of the funding to be sought "in future budgets". </p> <p>Although the Hobart-Burnie railway and the Launceston-Bell Bay rail link are identified as part of the AusLink national network, there does not appear to be any cash for Tasmanian rail infrastructure for at least the first five years. </p> <br />
