<p>New South Wales’s Rail Infrastructure Corporation has a $73m maintenance backlog and is having to replace major works with minor rectification programs, an audit has found.</p> <p>Funding restrictions have resulted in the corporation postponing major maintenance jobs and the estimated backlog for the metropolitan network is $73m for 2001቞.</p> <p>The state auditor-general found this deferral has had a significant long-term impact on the condition of the network’s infrastructure.</p> <p>The corporation is undertaking a number of initiatives to improve its maintenance management.</p> <br />
