<p>The Rail Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) has suggested it might support a single-driver operation in New South Wales if it was accompanied by a uniform communications system across the state network.</p> <p>RTBU’s NSW secretary, Nick Lewocki, told the <em>Australian Financial Review</em> that getting a uniform frequency would eliminate a major stumbling block on the issue.</p> <p>Last year, Pacific National agreed to put its intention to push for single-driver operations in NSW on hold pending the final report of the McInerney Inquiry into the Waterfall crash.</p> <p>The report could make recommendations to the NSW rail safety regulator on issues such as crewing levels and communications. </p> <br />
