As a registered training organisation (RTO), and a global leader in the rail engineering industry, JMD Railtech (JMDR) offers industry-recognised specialist training within the rail sector, including rail induction, WHS, and rail safety, communications, fatigue, management, and specialist signalling courses, delivered by expert trainers.
In Australia, JMDR is an approved training provider for Queensland Rail and Transport for New South Wales, which includes signalling domain training for Sydney Trains.
According to JMDR General Manager Engineering, Richard Mifsud, JMDR is offering the following courses:
- Basic Signalling Principles
- Signalling Principles 1 & 2
- Signal Circuit Inspection and Testing
- Sydney Trains Safeworking Practices and Maintenance Procedures
- Access to and Working in Live Signalling Locations
“Once they have completed and passed the relevant courses, participants will need to undergo a practical assessment to be able to apply for the Sydney Trains Authorised Person Certificate of Competency,” Mifsud said.
“JMDR qualified assessors are approved by Sydney Trains to complete this assessment. This includes organising the paperwork needed to be forwarded to Sydney Trains.
“We are always aiming to increase our training portfolio and with the imminent completion of our signals training facility at Ingleburn, NSW, our training offerings will increase further especially in terms of rail signalling.”
JMD Railtech assessors are authorised to perform assessments for Assistant Testers and Signal Electrical Installers. This also includes the processing of all paperwork for Sydney Trains.
“JMDR is also the only company outside of UGLRL to be endorsed to perform the 2022/2023 Signalling Reaccreditation Course for the NSW Country Rail Network,” Mifsud said.
“In addition, JMDR can assist with MTM and ARTC designer and field staff assessments for respective statements of competencies.
“And JMDR is an authorised competency assessment supplier for all IRSE licensing requirements which are highly respected across the world.”
