Rail chief ponders missing $120m for inland rail

<p>The Australian railways Association was looking for a missing $120m funding allocation in last night’s Budget, promised for a study of the inland railway between Melbourne and Brisbane, chief executive Brian Nye said today (Wednesday, May 9).</p> <p>&#8220The $120m has disappeared,&#8221 he said.</p> <p>&#8220We know it’s in there &#8211 we just don’t know where it’s going to go.&#8221</p> <p>A spokesman for transport minister Mark Vaile said the Government would release project specifics over the coming months.</p> <p>Overall, the ARA was pleased with the $22.3bn funding allocation.</p> <p>&#8220Money for infrastructure is what we’ve all been crying for,&#8221 he said. &#8220It’s a good result.&#8221</p> <br />
