Queensland’s 12th Annual Transport Infrastructure Conference takes place in Brisbane in May.
The specialised program will focus on the major projects shaping the state’s transport network, alongside discussions about leading industry topics.
More than 200 delegates are expected to attend the two-day event at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, where key industry figures will deliver the latest information on significant transport infrastructure projects currently underway.
Key presentations at the conference include one on Inland Rail, one of the world’s most significant infrastructure projects, that will create more than 21,500 direct and indirect jobs during its construction. Presentations will also deliver the latest updates on mega project Cross River Rail, and the biggest road project in Queensland’s history, the Coomera Connector. Leading industry figures will also provide insights into Brisbane Metro, the Bruce Highway Upgrade and Brisbane Airport Master Plan.
With climate change a prominent global issue, the transport sector will play a crucial part in steering Queensland towards its target of zero net emissions by 2050. An expert panel on day one of the conference will come together to discuss the what the industry must embrace to be more sustainable and the challenges it will face.
On day two, an expert panel will discuss the human aspect of road safety and the role active transport will play in reducing fatalities. The Queensland Government has injected more than $1.4 billion into road safety improvements and initiatives, and the Queensland Road Safety Strategy 2022–31 has set a ten-year target of zero serious road trauma by 2050.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads is also increasing efforts to combat exclusion and stereotypes, working to increase economic participation for Indigenous businesses and encouraging more women to join the industry. Both topics will be highlighted at the conference, with key presentations by Supply Nation and National Women in Transport.
The 12th Annual Queensland Transport Infrastructure Conference, organised by Expotrade Australia, will be held on May 23 and 24 at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
