All South East Queensland rail services will be suspended from last service tonight, due to the severe weather conditions brought by Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Queensland Rail said the decision was made to ensure the safety of its customers, employees and the community.
Some long-distance services will also be impacted, and affected customers are being contacted directly.
Due to intense wind, rainfall and potential flooding in South East Queensland over the coming days, customers are encouraged to reconsider all but essential travel plans.
A spokesperson for Queensland Rail said: “The network will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
“We have taken extensive precautions across the network, securing infrastructure and stabling trains in safe locations.
“As soon as conditions allow, our teams will safely begin any necessary repairs to restore services as quickly as possible.”
