Queensland Rail regional network reopens after Ita

<span class="" id="parent-fieldname-description"> Queensland Rail has reopened the regional network from Brisbane to Cairns on Sunday morning following completion of track repairs from Cyclone Ita. </span> <p>The network was closed from Townsville to Cairns, including the Kuranda Scenic Range on Friday April 11, and the line between Cairns and Mackay on Sunday April 13.</p><p>According to Queensland Rail regional manager supply chain north Michael Mitchell, damage from Cyclone Ita included &nbsptrack washouts from floodwaters ranging from 10 to a few hundred metres and scouring.</p><div>&quotOne of our worst hit areas along the network was between Bowen and Thoopara, south of Proserpine&nbspwith 15 locations of washouts along approximately 78km of track,” Mitchell said.
