<p>QR received two high commendation awards at the 2002 Queensland Engineering Awards last week.</p> <p>The first was for QR and EDI Rail’s joint entry of the 4000 Class locomotives in the Products and Manufacturing Facilities category. </p> <p>The 4000 Class locomotives, designed to increase efficiency in coal haulage, represent years of research, development and engineering innovation. </p> <p>The joint QR and Transfield Construction Queensland entry of the Brisbane Airport Rail Link was highly commended in the Project Infrastructure and Resource Development category. </p> <p>The rail link is Australia’s longest rail viaduct and links the domestic and international airports with QR’s suburban rail network. </p> <br />
