QR starts NSW coal haulage operations

<p>QR has begun coal haulage from Resource Pacific’s Newpac mine near Singleton to port of Newcastle.</p> <p>QR chief executive Bob Scheuber said the Resource Pacific contract is the second export coal contract QR has in New South Wales and the start of operations marks a significant event.</p> <p>"This is the first export coal train to be run by an interstate operator since the NSW rail industry was opened to competition almost 10 years ago," Mr Scheuber said.</p> <p>QR aimed to become the market leader in NSW coal haulage, he said.</p> <p>The organisation has also won the contract to haul coal from Hunter Valley Energy Coal’s new Mount Arthur mine from July. </p> <br />
