<p>Wabtec of the US has signed a $21m deal with Queensland Rail to supply integrated electronic control and braking systems.</p> <p>QR is part of a program to upgrade 68 heavy-haul electric locomotives used in coal services. </p> <p>The plan involves replacing existing pneumatic brakes and driver consoles with Wabtec on-board instrumentation and electronically controlled brakes. </p> <p>Delivery will begin in mid-2003 and finish in 2006. </p> <p>The equipment will be made at Wabtec plants in the US and Canada, with application support from Wabtec Australia in Sydney.</p> <br />
