<p>Queensland’s regional rail will benefit from $34m in line upgrades, the State Government said.</p> <p>A $20m upgrade is already underway on the rail line between Rosewood and Helidon, involving strengthening the track with higher-rated rail and concrete sleepers.</p> <p>State transport minister Steve Bredhauer said the work would allow QR to operate at increased speeds, benefiting passenger rail and rail freight – including Darling Downs coal, livestock grain and general freight.</p> <p>QR will also spend $14m upgrading the line between Toowoomba and Goondiwindi.</p> <p>The work consists of strengthening the track with heavier-rated rail and replacing some timber sleepers with steel sleepers. </p> <br />
