<p>QR has moved to further stymie Asciano’s efforts to break into the Queensland coal market, nabbing one of its rival’s top executives.</p> <p>QR said this morning (Tuesday, March 4) that it had appointed Marcus McAuliffe to head its newly-created National Logistics and Retail Freight business.</p> <p>It is understood that Mr McAuliffe had been given the task of launching Pacific National’s charge into the Queensland coal market.</p> <p>Mr McAuliffe has previously worked in senior roles with Patrick, Chemtrans, Incitec Fertilisers and Brambles. </p> <p>Asciano-owned Pacific National has made public declarations it wants to deliver a blow to QR’s dominance in the Queensland coal market, with at least two major coal producers said to be in discussions. </p> <br />
