QR passes milestone in coal haulage ambitions

<p>QR has reached the 1m tonne mark for its coal haulage operations in the Hunter Valley.</p> <p>The rail operator began its haulage operations in April this year &#8211 the first services run by an interstate coal operator since New South Wales opened to competition almost 10 years ago, QR said.</p> <p>QR chief executive Bob Scheuber said the 1m tonne mark was a significant step in the organisation’s goal to become the market leader in the NSW coal haulage market.</p> <p>Its coal and freight division, QR national, has been carrying coal from Resource Pacific’s Newpac mine since April 30, 2005 and from Hunter Valley Energy Coal’s Mount Arthur mine since July 1.</p> <br />
