<p>Off-peak passenger numbers on QR’s Citytrain have surged 14% on the back of marketing services for major sporting and cultural events, the Queensland Government said.</p> <p>In the quarter to September 30, total passenger numbers on the city train network jumped 5.3% to 12.9m compared to the same period last year, state transport minister Steve Bredhauer said.</p> <p>A QR spokesman said Citytrain has focussed on making off peak rail travel more attractive to those who would otherwise consider travelling by car.</p> <p>This includes encouraging travel for weekend and school holiday activities and Citytrain Off-Peak week.</p> <br />
