<p>The Queensland Government’s recent mullings over the future of QR would not likely result in the sale of parts of the railway group, QR chairman John Prescott said yesterday (Monday, August 13).</p> <p>Mr Prescott told the <em>Courier Mail</em> that he thought changes within the group would lead to joint venture partnerships – and not a privatisation.</p> <p>He said the changes would not alter the character of the group.</p> <p>“QR is a strong business operating in a national transport market undergoing tremendous growth and diversity,” Mr Prescott said.</p> <p>QR yesterday said BlueScope Steel’s president for North America a long- time BHP Billiton executive, Lance Hockridge, would be its incoming chief executive.</p> <p>Mr Hockridge and Mr Prescott worked together at BHP, it was reported.</p> <br />
