<p>In-coming Queensland Rail chief executive Lance Hockridge will commence work on November 8, after resigning from his position as president of BlueScope Steel’s North America business. </p> <p>QR is expected to partner with a private freight business to improve operational efficiencies, however a decision is not expected before Mr Hockridge takes up office on November 8.</p> <p>“We went to the government with some of the work we’ve done on future options,” a spokesman said today (Monday, September 24).</p> <p>“More work needs to be done on other options.</p> <p>“But it’s fair to say we’re not likely to see any action [on those private partner options] before November 8,” he said.</p> <p>A report today put Mr Hockridge’s salary at about $700,000, however QR would not comment on the figure.</p> <p>Mr Hockridge will leave BlueScope and the US with his family to take up the position in Brisbane.</p> <p>He has worked in transport, operational, manufacturing and human resource roles at both BlueScope Steel and the BHP Billiton Group.</p> <br />
