Police hunt Opal vandal

A man who allegedly battered several Opal ticketing machines in Sydney’s west is wanted by NSW Police Transport & Public Safety Command.

Police have released CCTV images and are appealing for information after several machines were damaged and broken into on train platforms across the network in recent months.

Police say the man entered Yagoona railway station in Sydney’s south-west at around 2am on Sunday, April 8, damaged security cameras and then Opal card machines at the station, trying to break into them.

The same man is believed to be responsible for several other similar incidents on the Sydney Trains network over the past two months.

Officers have released CCTV of two men they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

The first man depicted in the photos is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, in his 30s, about 170cm to 180cm tall, with a medium build.

The second man is described as Caucasian in appearance, with facial hair, about 160cm to 170 cm tall, with a medium build.
