Transport for NSW has urged passengers to delay non-essential travel as industrial action goes ahead today.
Late last night (February 13), the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) announced that talks with the State Government had fallen through.
Today’s industrial action will consist of a go-slow, with trains running 23km an hour slower than usual.
Commuters across Sydney and the wider state have been warned to expect “lengthy delays, service cancellations and very long service gaps on the rail network”.
Services will be affected on all lines but will be particularly impacted on the South Coast Line where there are no train services running.
There will be four buses operating on the South Coast Line to help move passengers. Three of these are running between Wollongong and Kiama and one is running between Kiama and Bomaderry.
Transport for NSW said in a statement: “We urge passengers to delay non-essential travel, use alternative forms of public transport, and plan ahead by checking the latest updates on transportnsw.info and live travel apps.
“Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink apologise to our passengers once again for the disruption and thank commuters for their understanding as staff at the Rail Operations Centre and across the network work to minimise the impacts of this difficult industrial period.”
