<p>The House of Representatives Transport and Regional Services Committee is to have an inquiry on the connections between Australian road and rail networks and the country’s ports. </p> <p>The inquiry was called by federal transport minister John Anderson and is seeking written submissions by May 6. Paul Neville will chair the committee. </p> <p>The terms of reference include Australia’s regional arterial road and rail network and its relationship to the country’s ports, and the policies and measures needed to improve efficiency. </p> <p>The areas to be covered will include land transport access, capacity of operation of ports, role of regional intermodal hubs, more efficient use of existing infrastructure, and the prospects for intelligent tracking technology.</p> <br />
